TCE316L

Cost-effective, reliable and corrosion resistant

TCE316L is an iron-based EHLA (Extreme High-Speed Laser Application) coating. It offers high resistance to corrosion and oxidation, making it an effective protective underlayer in harsh environments. While its wear and corrosion resistance is slightly lower than some of our other laser clad coatings, this makes TCE316L a more cost-effective solution. Additionally, TCE316L can be welded to nearly all steel alloys, making it especially suitable for repairs and as a base or intermediate layer in various industrial applications.

Ideal as a base layer, often combined with Hardchrome

TCE316L is frequently used as a base or intermediate layer in combination with hard chrome plating. When the surface of a cylinder or other component is severely worn or pitted, TCE316L can be applied to rebuild the damaged area through laser cladding. Thanks to its excellent weldability on nearly all steel alloys, it forms a strong, compatible base for subsequent hard chrome plating. This layered approach combines the corrosion and oxidation resistance of TCE316L with the superior wear resistance of hard chrome, providing a durable, cost-effective repair and protection solution.

Benefits of TCE316L

TCE316L offers a versatile balance of corrosion resistance, weldability and cost-efficiency, making it an ideal choice for applications where chemical exposure and repair flexibility are key requirements.

High Corrosion and Oxidation Resistance

Protects components in chemically aggressive and high-temperature environments, extending service life under harsh conditions.

Cost-Effective Protective Layer

Offers reliable performance at a lower cost compared to more wear-resistant coatings, making it a smart choice for less extreme applications.

Weldable to Almost All Steel Alloys

Highly suitable for repairs and buildup applications, thanks to its excellent weldability on a wide range of steel substrates.

Ideal as a Base Layer for Hard Chrome

Commonly used to rebuild damaged or pitted surfaces before hard chrome plating— combining structural restoration with enhanced wear resistance.

Strong Metallurgical Bonding

Laser cladding ensures a seamless bond with the base material, preventing delamination or peeling under mechanical stress or vibration.
