EHLA – Advanced Laser Cladding technology

At Technoplating Group, we apply advanced EHLA (Extreme High-Speed Laser Application) technology to deliver high-quality laser cladding solutions with optimal efficiency and precision. Our system is designed to meet the demands of modern surface treatment—ensuring consistent layer quality, minimal material waste and reliable process control. By combining advanced automation with precise thermal management, we achieve consistent, high-performance coatings across a wide range of applications. The result is a streamlined, accurate, and repeatable process that meets the highest standards in surface engineering.

Our EHLA Machine: Capabilities

At the core of our laser cladding operation is one of the most advanced EHLA systems in Europe. Built for high-throughput and fine control, the machine enables us to process workpieces up to:

❖   Ø1000 mm in diameter

❖   15.000 mm in total length
❖
20.000kg in weight

This makes it ideal for cladding rods, tubes, rollers, and other large-format components — with the accuracy required for dredging, machinery, offshore, and heavy-duty hydraulic applications.

What sets this machine apart is its fully automated, computer-controlled interface. It allows seamless transitions between different coating materials, thicknesses, and geometries, ensuring precision at every layer. Whether you're working with hard-wearing alloys or sensitive base metals, our machine is engineered to adapt — not to compromise.

Benefits of EHLA

Laser cladding is only as good as the machine behind it. Our EHLA setup is designed for excellence across every critical dimension:

Exceptional Processing Speed

Our EHLA system operates at speeds up to 50 meters per minute significantly faster than traditional cladding methods. This enables shorter lead times and makes the process highly suitable for both long components and high-volume production.

Minimal Heat Input

The focused, high-speed process ensures minimal thermal impact on the base material. As a result, there is little to no distortion and the original mechanical properties of the component are preserved — reducing the need for extensive post-processing.

High Corrosion Resistance

The resulting coating is extremely dense and virtually pore-free. This prevents penetration by moisture, chemicals or other contaminants. Making it ideal for use in corrosive or harsh environments such as offshore, marine or chemical processing industries.

Strong Metallurgical Bond

The coating powder is fully melted in the laser beam before it reaches the substrate. This creates a metallurgical bond with the base material ensuring excellent adhesion, durability and resistance to delamination or cracking.

Accurate Layer Thickness Control

With a laser beam width of just 1.5 mm and precise automation we can apply coatings ranging from 50 µm to over 400 µm with high accuracy. This allows us to meet tight specifications without excessive buildup or material loss.

Efficient and less harmfull process

With a 90% powder utilization rate the process is highly efficient and generates minimal waste. It is dry and producesess less harmful emissions — offering a safe and environmentally responsible solution. Our EHLA process is also fully ISO14001 certified

Single Setup for All Applications

The machine’s flexibility allows for quick transitions between new production and repair work — without hardware changes or time-consuming reconfiguration. This ensures high efficiency and short lead times. It also enables a seamless workflow, reducing downtime and allowing for rapid response to urgent or last-minute orders.

Wide Range of Coating Materials

We support various powder types including wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant and heat-resistant alloys. The machine is optimized for fast material changes enabling customized solutions without interrupting production flow. This flexibility allows us to tailor coatings to specific performance requirements.

Suitable for Sensitive Alloys

Even heat-sensitive materials such as carbide-reinforced steels and nickel-based alloys can be treated safely and effectively. The low heat input preserves substrate integrity while still achieving excellent coating quality.

Consistent Dimensional Accuracy

Advanced process control and real-time monitoring ensure consistent coating thickness and geometry across batches. This high repeatability is essential for parts — reducing the need for rework and improving overall production reliability.
